How it works
Your image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and the captions are painted on top with a classic outlined meme font (Anton, a free Impact-style typeface, with Impact as a fallback). Nothing leaves your device: there is no upload and no watermark.
Each text box has its own size, fill color, outline color and thickness. Drag a caption directly on the image to move it, or click the preview and use the arrow keys for fine nudges. Add as many boxes as you need for labels, speech or multi-panel jokes.
The download is a PNG at your image’s original resolution (very large images are capped at 2,400 px on the long side to keep things fast).
Questions
What font do memes use?
The classic look is Impact: white, all caps, with a black outline. This tool uses Anton, a free font that closely matches Impact, and falls back to Impact if Anton can’t load.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is read and drawn locally in your browser. Closing the tab discards it.
Can I make a meme without my own picture?
Yes. Pick one of the blank canvases (white or black square, or a 16:9 slide) and use the text boxes for a text-only meme or a caption card.
Why doesn’t “Copy image” work in my browser?
Copying images needs the async Clipboard API, which some browsers (and older Firefox versions) restrict. Use Download PNG instead and share the file.
How do I move the text on mobile?
Touch and drag the caption on the preview. The page won’t scroll while you drag a caption.
