How the conversion works
Everything is based on an hourly rate. Weekly pay is the hourly rate × hours per week; daily pay divides that by days per week. Yearly pay is the hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year, and monthly, twice-a-month and every-2-weeks amounts divide the yearly figure by 12, 24 and 26.
If your vacation and holidays are paid, leave paid weeks at 52. If you take two weeks unpaid, enter 50. When you change the schedule, the box you last typed in stays fixed and the rest are recalculated.
Overtime is paid at 1.5× the hourly rate for the extra hours you enter, every paid week. The right-hand column shows pay with overtime included. Figures are before tax.
Questions
How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual salary by the hours you’re paid for in a year. For a standard 40-hour week and 52 paid weeks that is 2,080 hours, so $60,000 a year is $28.85 an hour.
How much is $25 an hour per year?
At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, $25 an hour is $52,000 a year, $4,333 a month or $2,000 every two weeks before tax.
Is biweekly pay the same as twice a month?
No. Biweekly means every two weeks, 26 paychecks a year, so two months each year have three paydays. Semimonthly means twice a month, 24 paychecks, usually on fixed dates such as the 15th and last day. The same salary gives a slightly smaller biweekly check.
How is overtime calculated?
Under US federal law, most hourly employees earn 1.5× their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Enter your usual overtime hours per week to see the yearly difference. Some states add daily overtime rules; check yours.
