Markdown cheat sheet

# Heading through ###### Heading for headings · **bold** · _italic_ · ~~strike~~ · `code` · [text](https://url) for links · ![alt](image.png) for images.

Start lines with - or 1. for lists, - [ ] for a task, > for a quote. Wrap code in three backticks. Tables use pipes, with a | --- | row under the header; add colons (:---:, ---:) to centre or right-align a column.

The preview follows GitHub-flavored Markdown. By default a single line break joins lines into one paragraph, as on GitHub; tick Line breaks as <br> to keep every line break, as in comments and chat apps.

Questions

Is the HTML output safe to paste into my site?

The HTML is sanitised with DOMPurify, which removes scripts, event handlers and other active content before it is shown or copied. You still control what is in the Markdown, so review anything you paste from elsewhere.

Where is my document saved?

In this browser’s local storage, so it is still here if you close the tab. It is never uploaded. Use Download .md to keep a real copy, since clearing browser data will erase the draft.

Can I use HTML inside Markdown?

Yes, for things Markdown can’t express, such as <kbd>, or <details>. Scripts, iframes and inline event handlers are stripped for safety.

What does the downloaded .html file look like?

A standalone page with your rendered content and a small, readable stylesheet that also supports dark mode. It has no external dependencies, so you can email it or open it offline.
